The team at Kids I Can developed the Coordinated Developmental Supports model to honour the context and manner in which all children develop and to provide increased choice and control for families. We endeavour to share our knowledge and contribute to the sector so that practices continue to evolve in line with the current evidence and best practice guidelines.
Presenting at National Conferences
National conferences provide a forum for education that can inform professionals on new and emerging practices. Kids I Can have presented at the PRECI conference in 2024 and are also looking forward to presenting at the SPOT conference in 2025.
Rural Doctors
Rural Doctors network has supported professional development opportunities for the Kids I Can team. We have had the opportunity to host students support by the Rural Doctors Network. This enabled us to discuss the Coordinated Developmental Supports model with future providers of health and disability care in Australia.
Student Placements
Kids I Can has hosted student placements for both Allied Health students and work experience placements. The opportunity to encourage and educate the future of the sector workforce is invaluable.
Partnership with Three Rivers Department of Rural Health, Charles Sturt University
Objectively investigating the Coordinated Developmental Supports Model and further refining the model. Building an evidence base to inform the sector is important to Kids I Can. Kids I Can has partnered with Three Rivers Department of Rural Health, Charles Sturt University to investigate the effectiveness of this model through a research project.
National Best Practice Framework in Early Childhood Intervention
The Kids I Can team have contributed to the conversation regarding the development of a National Best Practice Framework in Early Childhood Intervention, at every stage through the consultation process.
Kids I can were offered the opportunity to be involved in the teamwork Podcast to discuss the Coordinated Developmental Supports Model. The podcast will be used as tool to accompany the Framework.

Coordination of supports is more than talking to other professionals. It is complex and involves constant communication. All professionals work together with a child and their support network of carers and explore the interconnectedness of development to holistically support their individual development.
